This August Golden Gate Wingmen will be doing a rare tour. The super group composed of John Kadlecik (guitar and vocals) of Dark Star Orchestra, Furthur, Phil Lesh and Friends and his own John Kadlecik Band; Jay Lane (drums and vocals) from Primus, Furthur and Ratdog; Jeff Chimenti (keys) of Furthur, Ratdog, GD50 and Dead and Company, and Reed Mathis (bass and vocals) of Tea Leaf Green, Jacob Fred’s Jazz Odyssey and Billy and the Kids.
The tour begins with Peach festival in Pennsylvania and will continue through New England, DC, NC, Chicago and shows in Columbus and Cleveland. The finale night is at Crop Rocks in Cleveland and is a benefit for the Human Fund who are assisting music programs in the city of Cleveland.
The John Kadlecik Band is on tour right now, Jeff Chimenti is on tour with Dead and Company in early summer, and everyone is busy with great projects. At a recent Golden Gate Wingmen show in New York City we had the chance to sit down with Reed Mathis to discuss his upcoming project.
The album features amazing special guests from all over the rock and jam spectrum and is modern workings of the works of Beethoven. He hopes to release the album this year and begin touring in the Fall.
Golden Gate Wingmen was born in November of 2014 when John Kadlecik was on solo tour and realized that his three musical friends were available for the night he was performing at Terrapin Crossroads. The two hour set that followed was amazing and the band quickly decided that more shows should follow. December 30 and 31 to end 2014 in Denver, a full 9 day tour in California in early 2015, dates throughout 2015 on both coasts and a two week tour on both coasts in 2016 have cemented the band’s place on the road and in the hearts of fans.
With these band members having so many interests and bands with whom they already tour, Golden Gate Wingmen only has the opportunity to tour on occasion. So catch them now while you can.
