LMN&R is profiling Social Order ahead of their live performance at Cruel World at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on Saturday, May 17th at 11:45 p.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Outsiders Main Stage. In a brief interview via email with the drummer Anthony Improgo for Social Order spoke to LMN&R, he shared his unbridled enthusiasm and passion for joining the lineup of seminal bands and artists coming together to performing Cruel World.
“We’re beyond excited to be playing Cruel World Festival 2025. It’s wild to be on the same lineup as bands we grew up loving — New Order, OMD, Garbage, and She Wants Revenge: huge inspirations for us. We’re also excited to see newer bands like N8NOFACE, Wisteria, Light Asylum, and Provoker. Can’t wait to be part of this legendary day. See you in Pasadena.”
The trio, featuring Mason Musso (Metro Station), Anthony Improgo (Metro Station, Parade of Lights), and Andrew Ward (Nuwave Fighters), formed during the 2020 lockdown. Social Order is renowned combining a highly melodic pop sound with a synth-accented sound. Social Order started to garner notice with their debut EP ‘How To Lie,’ that showcased a collaboration with Raven Quinn, a singer known in the goth scene.
Two notable singles were released in 2023 that include the “Worst Way” and “All My Life.” They are touch on universal, relatable themes such as nostalgia, depression, and toxic relationships. “Boys” found placement in a pilot episode of the Disney+ series Invincible, and “Waiting” landed a spot on Spotify’s All New Rock playlist. As part of Spotify’s Darkwave playlist, their single “Boys” found a home.
On May 9th, Social Order released their new EP, ‘Miss You,’ via AWAL. The EP is touted as being an “dark, emotionally rich collection that further sharpens their post-punk vision.” ‘Miss You’ follows their spring EP ‘Tantalize.’
“Shadows,” a track off of “Miss You,” captivates the listener with mystery and intrigue about love and longing amongst the “Shadows,” so to speak, lurking in dark, background in and unexpected places unseen by the human eye but definitely felt by the human heart.
The single is well produced, sonically clean , sharp, polished and highly melodic. The trio are tight and refined players that seamlessly weave their respective parts together into a cohesive whole without sacrificing artistic integrity and verve.
