Reggie’s in Chicago, IL

Reggie’s

Chicago, IL

For the venue Spotlight of the month we are going to wander our way to the Windy City, to the Southside where our President is from, close to the Lake and Navy Pier and all the other wild goings on in Chicago, and check out a club that is somewhat new in the Chicago-land scene, Reggie’s. The interesting thing about this club, is that it is not just a club, it’s not just two clubs, and it is not just two clubs and a record store. It really is a lifestyle.

Ardmore Music Hall

VENUE SPOTLIGHT

Ardmore Music Hall

Ardmore, PA

The Ardmore Music Hall, a 600 capacity intimate music venue & bar in Ardmore, PA, just 2 miles outside Philadelphia proper, was founded in 2013 but holds a rich history. The room was home to the legendary 23 East Cabaret from 1980-1994 and then had a 17 year run as Brownies 23 East, before being renovated and re-branded as a full time concert hall again. We recently had a chance to catch up with Chris Perella, who is the co-owner and is programming the music at the Ardmore Music Hall.

Chuck’s in Burbank, IL

Chuck’s

Burbank, IL

We gig all over Chicago and recently had a chance to get in on the ground floor of a new venue in the South suburbs called the Voodoo Lounge. It is part of a fabulous restaurant campus that includes Chuck’s Southern Comforts Café,serving top notch Mexican food, and the Voodoo Lounge, which as the name implies is the Cajun way station and BBQ depot. This is where the bands play and is in the French Quarter tradition: a painted concrete floor and low tile ceiling.

Mauch Chunk Opera House

Mauch Chunk Opera House

Jim Thorpe, PA

Nestled in the Pocono Mountains of Eastern Pennsylvania is a small town made famous by changing their town's name to honor one of America's greatest athletes, Jim Thorpe. Though he was not from there, the town was inspired by his accomplishments and took his name. In the late 1800s when the area was still known as Mauch Chunk, the community came together and decided to build a building for community events, town hall, and local market. Over the years that building has been renovated many times and is the current Opera House for the area. As not too many operas are heading through NEPA, for decades it has housed concerts for the community.

Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington, KY

Cosmic Charlie’s

Lexington, KY

For our current venue spotlight, we’re checking out a new venue in Lexington, KY called Cosmic Charlie’s. We had a great conversation with Mark Evans, who is booking the room. In some ways, this room is taking some of the vibe from the Fishtank, an institution in Lexington the last few years in terms of live music, and bringing it across the street to Cosmic Charlie’s. So here is some great information from Mark about their booking philosophy, what the club is going to be like, and just some general musical chit chat!
