Buddha Live in Fort Myers Florida September 11 2022 by Joel Shover

To be wowed an amazed by a young musician for me is a real treat and what a treat I received last night in beautiful Fort Myers, Florida when Champ Jaxon and his band played at Buddha Live.

This special “Never Miss a Sunday Show” was another stellar event put on by the Grateful Veteran, a 501 c-3 charity that helps victims of 9/11- with assistance from All Smiles Entertainment. Also on hand were Up in Smoke, Horse Eyed Jake’s American Sliders (OMG That Strawberry Shortcake!), Iona Cannabis Clinic, Flowery, MUV Dispensary. Nicole and Native Exotics was also on-site with a vast array of tie-dyes, everyday wares, crystals & pendants and some of the most exquisite pieces of beadwork you can find anywhere in the scene. The Grateful Veteran and his cause to get veterans and first responders off pharmaceuticals was an uplifting side product of a wonderful day of music and fun!

The day started early in the afternoon with Dave J. Rocks performing in the lot with the food vendors. Champ did a special meet and greet Pre-Party that was a treat for fans. The real special occasion was the opening of the show with the National Anthem performed by none other than Alexa from The School of Rock, what an incredible voice that you will be sure to hear for years to come. The School of rock has been producing some very talented young musicians as of late, check them out in whatever town you may live in!

Champ is a fellow New Englander transplant to Florida. He was born in 2010 so he is almost a teenager and has had fame for a couple of years now. It all started at the beautiful Spirit of Suwanee Park’s Wanee Festival years ago!

He has appeared on The Ellen Show with Brad Paisley, along with appearing onstage with acts like The Marshall Tucker Band,  and The Allman Betts Band.

Also, a seasoned traveler Champ has played hundreds of gigs in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. Champ was only ten years old when he first played Music Row! Have no fear New England, I hear his band is in talks with venues up north, so expect to see Champ Jaxon return to his roots in New England sometime real soon!  It would be great to see him in places like Freedom Field in Harmony Maine or the Shea in Turners Falls, MA.

Champ took the Stage after Alexa’s stunning performance of The National Anthem and wowed the crowd from the first note! Champ had original songs as well as famed cover songs from the likes of The Marshall Tucker Band, The Rolling Stones, The Band, The Meters, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band,  Jimi Hendrix, and of course The Good Ole Grateful Dead! This kid can shred the guitar and sing! Forget it Nike & Merrell, the kid goes barefoot and rocks it well!

If you are still reading this you should be listening to this kid play right now!!

Go See Live Music!!!

Till the Next Show…. Joel
