Golden Gate Wingmen is the brainchild of John Kadlecik, best known as a founding member of Dark Star Orchestra and lead guitar player for Furthur, Phil Lesh and Friends, and leader of his own outfits, John K. It is wholly appropriate that the first show is at the mecca of improvisational bohemian music just north of San Francisco. The wizards come out from behind their curtains to come together and showcase their talents in a project both refreshingly original and derived from the collective shared experience of the musicians and their fans.

John Kadlecik is celebrating the release of his new album Liquid Silver Live and the original material it contains with a solo acoustic tour starting this week in the western states. Furthur (sic) into the fall he will be hosting holiday shows in the Washington DC area with both of his current lineups, the DC Mystery Cats and the John K. Band.

The most significant living figure in the original movement of Afrobeat, Tony Allen, will be joining America's prolific Afrobeat caravan Chicago Afrobeat Project for a series of shows. The original drummer for Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti has been called the greatest living drummer, and his contributions to this tour will be an appetizer for the upcoming album to be released in 2015.
