Last Tuesday night, The Bus Boys returned to the location where they first got their start and performed a ‘teaser’ set of hits to a large crowd at the world famous Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Normally, Tuesdays are reserved for the “Ultimate Jam night” at the Whisky where famous musicians jam together on stage. Occasionally, other bands will perform during the evening to entertain the audience.
On this night, The BusBoys were spreading the word about the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (for breast cancer) happening that weekend at Dodgers Stadium. The band would be playing two sets on Saturday for the participants and fans and they gave us a taste of what was in store Tuesday night. Opening with “Minimum Wage,” from their first album, was a real treat as it was hard not to want to dance and sing along with the boys.

The audience was also reminded of the band’s hits from memorable movies like 48 Hours and Ghostbusters. The band played “The Boys Are Back in Town” (which the band cleverly changed the title and song from “Boys” to “Girls,” giving a nod to the upcoming women’s walk, “New Shoes.” and “Cleaning Up the Town” from the Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd comedy.
From the YouTube channel of California Rock News:
Brian O’Neal, the founder and only remaining original member of the band sounded as fresh and on point as they were 30-odd years ago! The rest of the BusBoys included Claude J Woods Jr. on lead and background vocals, Marc Palmer on guitar and vocals, Rob McDonald on bass and vocals and Jon Knox on drums.
