The festival marks its 35th year with headliners Lake Street Dive, Father John Misty (solo), Guster, Waxahatchee, and more

The good folks behind the Green River Festival, held in Greenfield, MA, announced its preliminary lineup today. On the weekend of June 24th-26th, 2022 attendees will get to see Lake Street Dive (who headlined the fest back in 2017), a solo set by Father John Misty, Guster, Waxahatchee, Galactic, Allison Russell, Ripe, Hiss Golden Messenger, and many more as more performers will be added to the lineup over the coming months. Tickets- including a new VIP experience tier- are available HERE. RSVP to the official Facebook event HERE.

The festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and moved from the grounds of Greenfield Community College to the more spacious Franklin County Fairgrounds location in 2021, where it has hosted festival camping for the last several years. The event will once again be held at the fairgrounds with an expanded roster of food and artist vendors, opening the fairgrounds’ famous Roundhouse (with air conditioning) to VIP ticket holders, and more fun details yet to be revealed.

Lake Street Dive performing at GRF in 2017

Lake Street Dive will perform as Saturday, June 25th’s headliner. It will be their first appearance in Western Mass in several years but they are no stranger to the region- Jim Olsen of Signature Sounds, one of the promoters of the festival, discovered them performing at the Rendezvous in Turners Falls last decade. Since then, they’ve appeared on national television, sold out Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Radio City Music Hall, and even touted the region’s Valley Flyer Amtrak line.

Father John Misty– the stage name of Josh Tillerman- will perform a solo set on Sunday, June 26th. The offbeat singer-songwriter and producer is poised to release a new album entitled Chloë and The Next 20th Century in April 2022.

Alt-rock Boston-based heroes Guster will play as Friday, June 24th’s headliners. They recently had postponed their winter 2022 tour due to the surge of the omicron variant of SARS CoV-2 so their appearance at GRF will be all the more appreciated by their fans.

New Orleans’ Galactic, featuring Anjelika “Jelly Joseph,” will also perform on Friday, June 24th. The group has performed thousands of times over the last 25 years and recently purchased the venerable venue Tipitina’s in their hometown. Their musical collaborations are as diverse as Allen Toussaint, Mavis Staples, Macy Gray, and Juvenile. It’ll be their first appearance at Green River Fest!

Waxahatchee will appear on Sunday, June 26th. The name of Katie Crutchfield’s solo project comes from a river near her childhood Alabama home and is a perfect fit for her folksy country rock sound. Her performance the fest will be hot off the heels of her winter 2022 tour.

Durham, NC band Hiss Golden Messenger, led by frontman MC Taylor, will play on Saturday, June 26th. Taylor recently performed a solo set at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke so it will be exciting to have him back in the region with the whole band.

Allison Russell, from the bands Birds of Chicago and Our Native Daughters, will also play on Sunday, June 26th. Her newest album Outside Child was recently nominated for three Grammys.

The Boston band Ripe will play on Saturday, June 25th. Their jam-funk sound is sure to get you moving and grooving. Check them out below:

Other performers on the roster include Parsonsfield, Kaleta and Super Yamba Band, Steve Poltz, Katie Pruitt, Asleep at the Wheel, Las Cafeteras, Molly Tuttle and the Golden Highway, Young @ Heart Chorus, the Dip, Matthew Fowler, Oshima Brothers, Mtali Banda, Brennen Leigh, and Mister G and the Global Citizen Ensemble. Stay tuned for more performers to be added!
