FIRST-TIME GRAMMY NOMINEE VALERIE JUNE SHARES BRAND-NEW ACOUSTIC VERSION OF You and I.
Valerie June shared “You And I” (Moon And Stars / Acoustic), a reimagining of the beautifully ethereal lead track from June’s acclaimed 2021 album The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers.
“‘This version of the song infuses earthy instruments like banjo, fiddle, upright bass, and acoustic guitar,” June explains. “‘You and I’ is a song prescribed for Sharing, Friendship, Discovery, and setting positive Intentions. Even when we think we are alone, we must trust that there is always a guide, friend, or loved one who has traveled and endured a similar experience. Together, we gain the confidence and strength needed to make it through any challenges or obstacles life may present. Together, we are strong. Together, we are beautiful…there is a thread and oneness to humanity.”
Last week, June’s song “Call Me A Fool,” featuring Stax legend Carla Thomas was nominated for Best American Roots Song at the upcoming 64th GRAMMY Awards, the first nomination of her illustrious career. “Call Me A Fool” is the lead single from June’s highly acclaimed LP, The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers, (Fantasy) released in March of this year.
The Recording Academy will present the 64th GRAMMY Awards on Mon, Jan. 31, on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on demand on Paramount+ from 8–11:30 p.m. ET / 5–8:30 p
June previously shared a heartfelt acoustic version of the poignant Moons and Stars track “Why The Bright Stars Glow” featuring another Stax legend, Mavis Staples. Additionally, Luck Reunion brought back their Luck Mansion Sessions this week and shared an intimate live performance with June shot at 3Sirens Studio in Nashville, TN.
