Future x Sounds™ is a series of events that provide established award-winning, and socially conscious artists with a unique creative opportunity to share their vision, shift the spotlight onto their talented peers and celebrate their communities.

These special, powerful live experiences invite artists, attendees, and society to question themselves and the world around them. Future x Sounds™ is an authentic window into a like-minded artistic global community that stands for the sounds of music and, for the sounds of global change.

Future x Sounds™ announced the official kick-off of this inaugural multi-city tour with a concert in New York in partnership with SummerStage, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Harlem Cultural Festival  (aka Black Woodstock) on August 17 at Marcus Garvey Park. Curated by Neal Ludevig, a founder of the Harlem Arts Festival, with musical direction by Igmar Thomas (Wyclef Jean, Mos Def, Esperanza Spalding, Lauryn Hill), the event will be co-hosted by Talib Kweli (the fiercely independent MC known for his incisive, hard-hitting socially conscious raps and for Black Star) and feature GRAMMY-awarded trumpeter and singer Keyon Harrold(Common, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Rihanna), three-time GRAMMY Award winning keyboardist Cory Henry, GRAMMY-nominated vocalist Alice Smith and Georgia Anne Muldrow along with other surprise guests.

Lalah Hathaway is a five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning musician and 10-time nominee who was most recently nominated for three GRAMMY® Awards in 2019, including Best R&B album, for her latest album ‘honestly,’  a sharp swerve that trades her legendary poised, quietly stormy R&B for woozy beats and digital grooves with guest appearances from Redman, Lecrae, Robert Glasper and more.

A 30-year music industry veteran, Lalah’s music frequently appears on the Hot R&B charts and she is known for her work both as a singer-songwriter and producer with frequent collaborations with today’s top hitmakers, including Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Anderson. Paak and Snoop Dogg. She has also shared the stage with music legends, from Prince to Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Anita Baker.  Film and television credits include appearing as herself in the 2017 hit film Girls Trip, and most recently, as the wedding singer in the series finale of BET’s “Being Mary Jane.”
