St. Patrick’s Day, any day of the year. That’s what you can expect from Rebels of the Sacred Heart. The band members select the best songs from across the board of Irish vocal pub and punk music and aim to give you a night to remember (or forget, as the case may be). The band is led by Steve Benson on guitar, mandolin, Irish banjo, and lead vocals. Steve has supported Billy Gibbons, The Revivalists, The Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms, Gomez, Little Feat, and more in his musical career. As Steve puts it, “Traditional instrumental is great. . . but that’s not us. Oh, and everyone in the band sings. More importantly, the room will get more than involved. Our sets have been built to include convivial drinking games, and the band encourages folks in the crowd to sing along and keep the bar busy. While the band stays in firm control, we want everyone to feel like part of the show.” No bar brawls here! Good vibes only, please. https://soundcloud.com/steve-benson-71059390/all-for-me-grog He continues, “In our band is the depth, poetry, and a hard reflection of history in the songs as well, but it never loses sight of having the best time possible. Come join us sometime, and have a pint! You’ll be glad you did.” The band’s first show will be at City Winery Boston, located at 1 Canal Street. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The show is an early one, beginning at 5 PM. Only those who are 21+ will be admitted. The rest of the band includes and Kat Alexander (Lunar Carnival) as co-lead singers, with Anna Sobel on percussion, Brian Bender on accordion/keys, Alex Korolov on violin, and Dan Grip on bass.  The original recording also includes Courtney Parker (rice: an American Band, Llama Lasagne, Rodd Cummings and the Vibrators, Spinelli). City Winery Boston opened in November 2017. It prides itself on bringing the wine country experience to Boston, as a fully functioning urban winery, intimate concert venue, full restaurant and bar, and private event space.
