You are an artist. A musician. Your energies are channeled into sound. Traversing light and love, shadow and darkness your inner landscape is made manifest. Diligently practicing and sculpting until the sonic vision is complete. Jewels of sound are ready to offer to the world.

It’s 11:30pm on a Wednesday night. Union of the Sun and Moon are ready to play a third set at Gypsy Sally’s Vinyl Lounge in DC. Katie brings the faders up and we look out at the empty room. The bartender is texting on his phone. “You can turn the house music down.” He is nice enough but the look on his face says “You really don’t have to do this you know.”

The first two sets had been sparsely attended. A few people wandering in from the main room for a song or two. A few people talking at the bar. Three of my friends. But now it’s just me, Katie and the polite bartender staring down the narrow empty room. Be brave and move forward into the abyss!

An artist reaches deep into the shadow lands of the spirits searching for treasure to share with the world. How does it feel when it seems there is no one to share the treasure with? It feels a bit embarrassing. It makes you question whether it is worth the trip. It makes you wonder what the hell you are doing!

Instinct stills you. Spirits not only speak they also listen. You realize now that the room is full of the unseen and they will not accept any half assed bullshit. You play the best you can in the moment sending vibratory diamonds out into the universe. And if you push record you can keep sending them!
