Mohegan Sun lit up early this year — literally. Before a single arena seat was filled on December 7 th2025, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White, Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson stepped onto the Sun Patio to help lead Mohegan Sun’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, adding a warm holiday spark to a resort already buzzing for their return. It was the perfect opening act: a festive glow before the night’s full-scale ignition.

And ignite it did. When the lights dropped inside Mohegan Sun Arena and the first punch of “Shining Star” hit, the place erupted. Decades into their legendary run, Earth, Wind & Fire still command a stage with a confidence most bands never touch. They rolled straight into “Let Your Feelings Show,” crisp, tight, and energetic, before leaning into deep soul with “Can’t Hide Love.” By “Serpentine Fire,” the arena was moving as one — no warm-up needed.

The groove kept climbing as the familiar “In the Marketplace” → “Jupiter” sequence set a cosmic tone that slid effortlessly into “Sing a Song,” turning the arena into a massive sing-along. The horn-punching swagger of “Got to Get You Into My Life” followed, leading into the earthy groove of “Kalimba Story,” a perfect reminder of the band’s roots and rhythmic DNA.

Then came the soul stretch — a trio that showed Earth Wind & Fire’s range and vocal might. “Devotion,” “Love’s Holiday,” and “Reasons” landed smooth and warm, harmonies blended like velvet. “After the Love Has Gone” extended the emotional run, giving the audience a moment to breathe before the band lit the fuse again.

With “That’s the Way of the World,” the arena swelled, and “Fantasy” took it higher, bathed in rich lighting that made Mohegan Sun Arena feel like a living album cover. Then the show shifted into full-tilt celebration: “Boogie Wonderland” turned the floor into a disco revival, “Let’s Groove” shook the seats, and by the time the iconic first notes of “September” dropped, the arena went into joyful frenzy. There’s a reason this one closes nearly every Earth Wind & Fire set — it’s unstoppable.
The night wrapped with the powerful drive of “In the Stone,” a final exclamation point on a show that proved Earth, Wind & Fire aren’t resting on legacy — they’re still delivering it.

Mohegan Sun continues to be the perfect stage for a night like this. The sound is clean, the sightlines sharp, and the entire resort — from the casino floors to the tree-lit patio — elevates the experience into something bigger than just a concert. It’s why Earth Wind & Fire and Mohegan Sun remain such a natural pairing: a legendary band and a first-class destination that knows how to host one.

Earth, Wind & Fire have been lighting up stages for over 50 years, and on Sunday December 7th in Uncasville, they showed exactly why they’re still one of the most enduring and electrifying live acts on the planet. The elements arrived — and Mohegan Sun felt the fire.
