Lake Street Dive Brings the Party Home: A Magical Second Night at MGM Fenway

Boston’s MGM Fenway was electric on Saturday, December 14, 2024, as Lake Street Dive delivered a triumphant homecoming for the second night of their sold-out run. The beloved band, known for their soulful blend of pop, jazz, and rock, turned the evening into an unforgettable celebration of music, connection, and joy.

Kicking things off with the upbeat and irresistibly catchy Good Together, Lake Street Dive immediately had the crowd on their feet, setting the tone for a high-energy night. The chemistry among the band members was palpable, with Rachel Price’s powerhouse vocals leading the charge, supported by Bridget Kearney’s funky basslines, Mike Calabrese’s dynamic drumming, Akie Bermiss’s smooth keys, and James Cornelison’s searing guitar riffs.

The setlist was a masterclass in versatility, weaving through crowd favorites like Rabid Animals and Better Not Tell You,to newer hits like Hypotheticals and the poignant Making Do, which showcased the band’s knack for blending sharp social commentary with irresistible melodies.

A highlight of the evening came during Dance with a Stranger, when Price descended from the stage and joined the audience on the floor. Her spontaneous dance with fans was a moment of pure magic, blurring the line between performer and audience and embodying the band’s deeply personal connection with their listeners.

The encore was the cherry on top of an already stellar evening. They brought the house down with Good Kisser, Smooth, and the high-octane closer Time of My Life, leaving fans exhilarated and craving more.

Lake Street Dive’s ability to balance technical brilliance with a sense of fun and intimacy made their homecoming an event to remember.
