Strutman Lane began as a passion project among four close friends who simply wanted to make music together. What started as a small collaboration has since evolved into a powerhouse collective, featuring up to nine musicians delivering high-energy funk-pop grooves that captivate audiences.

Rooted in tight musicianship and infectious melodies, Strutman Lane draws inspiration from a diverse range of legendary artists. Their signature sound incorporates the rich, three-part harmonies reminiscent of The Beatles, fused with the rhythmic brilliance of Stevie Wonder, the jazz-infused sophistication of Steely Dan, and the modern funk stylings of Vulfpeck and Lake Street Dive. The result? A nostalgic yet fresh take on ’70s-inspired pop and soul that feels both timeless and innovative.

Speaking with Adam Landa of the band, he shared that the name “Strutman Lane” came from the street of the house he grew up on, where the band had its first rehearsals. This tour marks a major milestone as the first for the DC-based band, and selling out The Atlantis in DC was a dream come true for the group. Partway through their first tour, they are showcasing their EP while also teasing songs from their soon-to-be-released full-length album.

They are particularly excited to end their tour in Boston, a city known for its thriving music scene and the birthplace of many legendary artists. Adam expressed how surreal it feels to see audiences respond so positively to their songs, creating a bond that allows the band to adapt their set in real-time—extending sections or tightening arrangements based on the energy in the room.

A major factor in their success is the camaraderie between the band members. Adam emphasized how grateful he is to be part of a group of long-time friends who know how to lift each other up, especially during their pre-show huddles where they share words of inspiration before hitting the stage. This tour has also given them the opportunity to test out unreleased songs, tweaking arrangements from one performance to the next to refine their sound.

Adam shared that the band’s philosophy is to leave egos at the door, believing that the sum of Strutman Lane is far greater than its individual parts. If you have a chance to catch them on tour, their upcoming shows February 7 at AS220 in Providence, RI, and February 8 at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this rising funk-pop sensation in action!
