The buzz was real at The Anthem on November 12th. Walking into DC’s waterfront venue, you could feel the pre-show excitement as fans decked out in Goose merch filled the floors and balconies, and beach balls bounced through the crowd during the show. This was the first night of a two night run at The Anthem.
If you’ve never been to The Anthem, picture this: a gorgeous modern venue right on the waterfront with killer acoustics and enough space to dance (which came in handy). When Goose hit the stage at 8:13, the place erupted. The light show alone was mind-blowing – one fan nailed it when they posted that Goose’s lighting crew “had to be the best in the game.”
The Connecticut quintet ripped through two massive sets, mixing up their own tunes with some unexpected covers. They kicked things off with “Dr. Darkness” and kept the energy high all night. The crowd lost it during their take on The Who’s “Eminence Front,” and their version of Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round” had the whole place spinning (pun intended).
During the setbreak, the halls were buzzing with talk about Goosemas – the band’s upcoming two-night run in Charleston this December, with fans comparing travel plans and speculating about the “Bingo Live” concept. The idea of setlists being determined by pulling song-labeled bingo balls in real time had people psyched. The real chatter, though, centered around the Fandiem contest – The prize package is insane: not just tickets and VIP treatment, but a signed guitar too. What made it even cooler was knowing their donations were supporting the Western Sun Foundation, which turns the Goose community’s energy into real action in every city where fans gather. “It’s like paying it forward while possibly winning the ultimate Goosemas experience,” one fan explained while pulling up the Fandiem website to make a donation. All around the venue, you could hear people mapping out their Charleston plans – some with tickets already in hand, others hoping their foundation donation would land them the VIP dream package.
Between the music and the scene around it, Goose gets what makes a show special. They partnered with Conscious Alliance for a food drive, offering a limited-edition poster from Hover Chair Studios to anyone who brought 25 non-perishable items. Plus, a chunk of every ticket went to support Greenpeace – pretty sweet way to give back while rocking out.
The NUGS livestream was the perfect alternative for fans around the globe who couldn’t get tickets to the sold-out show at The Anthem. Nothing compares to seeing the entire place erupt during “Seekers on the Ridge” or the shared sense of relief as the beautiful “Peggy-O” encore sends everyone out onto the DC streets. Despite selling out iconic venues like Red Rocks and Radio City Music Hall, Goose isn’t resting on their laurels. The Anthem show was a testament to the band’s growing momentum, showcasing their great music, infectious energy, and the enthusiastic crowd ready to follow them wherever they go.
For the folks there, this wasn’t just another show on the Fall 2024 Tour, it was an unforgettable night that will keep fans coming back for more.
