New Studio Album, Lonely Generation, Out Now – Tour Kicks Off February 12th
Multi-platinum alt-pop trio Echosmith have released their sophomore album Lonely Generation. The band also released the official video for their brand-new single “Diamonds.” Directed by Danny Drysdale (The Killers), the playful visual is next in Echosmith’s series of videos for each song on the album and features the band engaged in a high-stakes poker game and shoot-out set in the Wild West as the song shines a light on the value of individuality amidst handclaps and delicate guitar strumming. Echosmith will perform the song for the first time on national TV when they stop by top morning talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan on January 14th. Check your local listings for air time.
“Lonely Generation is the most personal thing we’ve ever released. We explore coming of age (all the good, scary and confusing things that come with that), discovering who we are as individuals, and falling in love. This sophomore album has been years in the making, but those have been some of the most important years of our lives. We want every single person who listens, to feel a little better about whatever it is that they’re going through, even if it’s because of the simple fact that none of us are alone. I hope our fans get to see themselves in these lyrics and get to know us better at the same time,” says Sydney about the album.
On the Diamonds video, Sydney says, “Diamonds’ is one of my favorite songs on the record, and possibly my favorite music video, ever. We got to make up fake western characters for each other, talk in accents all day, film in an actual barn with horses and throw $1-dollar bills around. Pretending to be in an old western film was insanely fun, and I’m so excited for everyone to see it!!!”
“Diamonds” follows bouncy lead single “Lonely Generation,” which addresses how it can feel lonely in this hyper-connected social media world and is a reminder to focus on real connection with each other. The video has over 2 million views! For the fun and flirty album track, “Shut Up And Kiss Me” follows frontwoman Sydney Sierota trying to catch the attention of her love interest (her real-life husband, Cameron Quiseng, who she married earlier this year) who will not take the hint and kiss her.
Beginning February 12th in Washington, DC, Echosmith will embark on their North American Lonely Generation Tour which will bring them to major cities from coast to coast before wrapping in Los Angeles on March 5th. Weathers and Jayden Bartels will support. Full routing below.
Echosmith also recently filmed a very special Live from the Artists Den performance in NYC – ahead of its 2020 airing on American Public Television, check out their performances of “Lonely Generation” and “Bright.”
An uplifting and honest coming-of-age soundtrack, Lonely Generation incorporates vintage synthesizers and upright piano into a framework threaded together by inventive guitar work as the band ponders the beauty in our differences and embraces individuality and all of the emotions that come with living life on songs like “Everyone Cries” which makes feeling sad okay, and “Follow You” which holds a very deep significance for Sydney – she penned the acoustic love letter to her husband for their first dance at their 2019 wedding. Full track listing below. Lonely Generation, produced by Jeffery David (Seal, Zedd, for King & Country), is Echosmith’s first independent release on the band’s newly formed record label, Echosmith Music, created in 2018 with ADA.
