Alternative rocks very own Grammy Award winning, singer-songwriter, Aimee Mann, kicked off her 22½ Year anniversary tour featuring every song from her Lost in Space album at the beautiful Historic Park Theatre in Cranston, Rhode Island on Thursday night June 5th 2025 with support from singer-songwriter Jonathan Coulter.

Jonathan Coulter left his job as a software writer to be the Weird Al Yankovic of folk music and boy does, he delivers with songs like “IKEA.” If you have not heard JoCo as his fans call him do so immediately this guy is not only funny but super talented! Aimee Mann also sang a few songs with JoCo during his set.

You probably know Aimee Mann for her Academy and Grammy Award nominated song “Save Me” written for the movie Magnolia that showed her impeccable songwriting skills that showcased the pain and loneliness and feeling of complete unworthiness paired with music that just carried you through to the slight bit of shimmering light at the end. Think Manilow’s Band-Aid brand commercial riff, well Aimme rips that Band-Aid right off with no warning and you feel all emotions including pain with her skilled songwriting.

That is just what the album Lost in Space does as well. Still going strong at 22½ years and as Aimme stated as the show started every song on the album would be played and be prepared, it was a depressing, but great album so has your Xanax’s ready as she plunged right into Humpy Dumpty. Though every song was played off the album but not in that order. Aimee over exceeded any expectations of just how amazing her voice and songwriting talents are in a live an intimate setting, not just in a studio!

The set rolled on with hits like “Pavlov’s Bell,” “This is How it Goes,” “The Moth,” and
the fan favorite “High on Sunday 51”. Aimee wasted no time after completing the 11 song Lost in Space Album jumping right into “Save Me” as the Rhode Island crowd erupted! Aimee finished out the set with “Sugarcoated,” “Long Shot,” “Fifty Years After the Fair,” and “I Should’ve Known.” Go see this show you will be so amazed at her raw talent, there are no words!

The staff at The Historic Park Theatre are so amazing and above top-notch. You can tell that each member is there for the love of the arts and the fan, they get it, not to mention the seating and the sound, oh the sound! Check out their website and see a show there as soon as possible! Arrive early and enjoy their onsite lounge.

When I first saw, Aimee was coming to the Historic Park Theatre I was so excited the first three songs that came to my mind that I wanted to hear her play were “Save Me,” “Voices Carry” (Til Tuesday), and an acoustic version of “Time Stands Still” (RUSH) one can dream! If you have a chance to check out this 18-stop tour in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, and Illinois. Be sure to order some Lingonberry Pancakes in the state you choose to see Aimee Mann in.
