Adam Ezra Group has been a familiar band on the east coast for a number of years and recent touring has brought them to the midwest and even out to Montana, Wyoming and California! Opening with the song “Steal Your Daughter,” Adam Ezra sparked up the crowd with lyrics tracing the relationship between a Jewish hippe musician, a girl, and her catholic parents. The song is admittedly biographical!
AEG then roared thru their classic “14 Days” and “Burn Brightly,” among others, in their opening set. Adam dedicated the performance to percussionist, Jeff “Turtle” Goulart, who was not on the bill due to illness. AEG brings a strong musical presence with Josh Gold on keys, Francis Hickey on bass, Alex Lee Martin on drums, Jeff Turtle Goulart on percussion and Corinna Smith on fiddle. They write and perform great music, and are wonderful when heard “LIVE”!
Rusted Root was up next, and rocked the house for over an hour with original songs going back to their roots in the 90’s! Frontman and guitarist, Michael Glabicki, led the band through much of their catalog and had their fans rocking! I downloaded a few of their songs off i-Tunes, as I wasn’t terribly familiar with them despite their long career. I wasn’t able to really know which songs they played, but I got a good feel for the band. They are just super professional. Michael is really cool, and I could tell by his stage presence that his decades on stage have really allowed him to hone his craft. Ecstasy and Martyr were great, and of course they played their seminal classic “Send Me on My Way,” which gave me exactly what I sought out of their set.
Rusted Root are: MICHAEL GLABICKI – lead vocals, guitar LIZ BERLIN – vocals, guitars, percussion PATRICK NORMAN – vocals, bass, guitar, percussion Dirk Miller – guitars Cory Caruso – percussion
And last but not least, The Wailers closed the show with some new music and many from their extensive catalog built over 40 years of writing and touring. The crowd sang along and danced to the great hits including “Get Up, Stand Up,” “Could This Be Love,” “Exodus”
These bands finished an early summer tour together on a high note! The show was a real treat, and I got to know a few bands that I didn’t know before this night. Support live music and check these bands out on iTunes!! You’ll be glad you did!
