Sibling rockers Jocelyn & Chris Arndt and their band are thrilled to announce a coast-to-coast tour in January in support of their album Go. The tour will feature electrified performances of their original blues-rock music, including single “Red Stops Traffic,” which recently debuted on the Billboard AAA Top 40 at #37.

Siblings Jocelyn & Chris Arndt are developing an authentic retro-rock style that gives the sounds they grew up on a millennial twist. They’ve recorded five releases with guest players including G. Love, Gov’t Mule’s Danny Louis, Beau Sasser of Kung Fu, and legendary session players Alvin Moody, David Baron, and Ilya Toshinsky. In April, Bridge Road Entertainment released Go, Jocelyn & Chris’ second full-length studio album. Go remained at #2 on the Relix Jambands Top 30 Album Chart for 3 consecutive months. The first two singles from the album were Billboard’s #5 and #4 Most Added AAA Radio Singles in the US, topping out at #64 and #63 on the FMQB Triple A charts nationally. In December, radio “Red Stops Traffic” debuted on the Billboard AAA Top 40 at #37.

Together with their band, Jocelyn & Chris have logged performances across the country, including stops at The Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, CMJ, and Milwaukee Summerfest, where they won the audience vote for Best Band on the Emerging Artist Stage. They’ve played hallowed stages like The Birchmere, The Viper Room, and The Bitter End. They’ve provided direct support for Vertical Horizon, Little Feat, Marc Cohn, The Gin Blossoms, and many others. Five releases. Four years touring the country. Airplay on over 200 radio stations nationwide. Two Harvard degrees (well, almost – just give Chris five more months). No sleep. Countless broken strings. One dream, thirteen years in the making.

How did you decide to team up as a performance duo? Was it a suggestion from one of you to the other or did you both make the same decision at the same time?

It definitely wasn’t a conscious decision on our part… it just sort of seemed like the right thing to do. We both started music lessons in elementary school, and it wasn’t long before it seemed like taking turns practicing in the living room just didn’t make sense. So we started playing together. And then when we’d been doing that for a while, writing our own original songs seemed like the next natural step in the progression. We’ve always done everything together, and music is no exception.

What’s your favorite story from the road so far?

Oh man. We’ve had some pretty cool tour experiences. 3am diner stops, random thrift store finds, cool venues, meeting new people… we honestly love it all. I know that’s kind of a cop-out, but it’s all fun. One particular memory that comes to mind is the day we spent skiing in the Rockies before we performed at Sundance Film Festival. Besides music, Chris and I are both huge skiers and snowboarders. That was the first time we’d ever skied out West. It rocked.

How did you like Harvard? Do you feel like attending such a prestigious college with a rigorous academic schedule helped prepare you for a full-time musician’s life?

Definitely! I’d say one of the main things we’ve learned from balancing both Harvard and music is that you can accomplish whatever you set out to do as long as you make time for what’s important to you. We learned pretty early on in this crazy balancing act that if we wanted to pursue our studies alongside our music career, we’d have to make some sacrifices, and we’d also have to stay really focused on what our long-term goals were and how we were gonna make it all happen. I definitely came out of Harvard happy that we are where we are and we haven’t had to compromise anything that’s truly important to us. And I think Chris feels the same way. The other great thing about a place like Harvard is that you’re constantly surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do. If you’re ever feeling discouraged, you just have to look around and see other people working really hard to make their dreams come true, and pretty soon you’re inspired to get back on track.

What’s the best show or best lineup/co-bill/whatever, you ever played? Tell us about it. We’ve played some good ones. One that definitely stands out is when we got to play Mountain Jam Music Festival in Woodstock, NY, a few years ago. We were on the bill the same year Robert Plant and the Black Keys headlined, which was INSANE. Plus, my personal idol Grace Potter was there with her band, so that was crazy. What a cool, cool experience.

Any misconceptions about being musicians you’d like to dispel?

Lol. That we don’t all do insane amounts of drugs? There’s a funny story about the parents of a girl Chris used to date being totally disapproving of him being a “rock star” because of the quote-unquote “lifestyle” that goes along with it. If by leaving the gig to go directly to our hotel, drink a cup of tea, put on a pair of fuzzy socks, and go to bed is the crazy rock n’ roll lifestyle they were worried about, then yeah, we rage.

What are your long-term (and short-term) goals for the year?

Long-term? Well, a Grammy or two would be pretty sweet. We’ve always got our sights set on the near-impossible – you don’t know if you don’t try, right? In between now and the Grammys, though, we’re planning on being out on the road playing a ton, so you can look for us in a city near you sometime soon. We’re also currently in the studio working on a brand-new record that’s slated for release this spring. So keep an eye out for new J & C music coming atcha in just a few months!
