Originally planned for the Royale, the heavy demand to see John and Public Image Ltd. caused the sold out event to move across town to Big Night Live, more than twice the size of the former venue. After eight years away from performing in the states, the fan’s desire to hear the songs etched in their memories was born witness by the packed house and voices from the audience singing along to ’This is Not a Love Song, and of course, ‘Rise’s, ‘May The Road Rise With You’.

Even though Boston is deep into his U.S. tour, John was still smiling and enjoying his time on stage and his voice sounded as powerful as ever. Watching the band, with long time guitarist Robert ‘Lu’ Edmonds and Bass guitarist, Scott Firth, both having played with the singer for over 15 years, felt like old friends hanging out and playing music they enjoyed.

The set list spanned the band’s entire catalogue from their first album and 1979’s compilation ‘Metal Box’ with Death Disco and Poptones and the more recent, (if you call 2015 recent) ‘Know now’.  Wondering whether PIL would ever release any new music again, John put that question to rest when he tipped the audience that new music was in the works!

Clearly, after an eight-year absence from North America, PIL made a convincing case that this tour is anything but a farewell and we all look forward to what comes next!
