The Sun Patio at Mohegan Sun Casino was overflowing with energy on September 6th, as fans packed shoulder-to-shoulder in anticipation of a night with Sully Erna, frontman of Godsmack and one of New England’s own. From the moment he stepped on stage, the crowd was eager to be wrapped in his distinct, prolific, and profoundly moving vocals—a sound that transcended the night and carried everyone into a musical cocoon.

Erna’s set blended solo artistry, Godsmack favorites, and classic rock staples, showing both his versatility and his soul. Opening with Asleep, he moved effortlessly into Pink Floyd’s Time, his own Sinner’s Prayer, and Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter. The performance unfolded like a journey, balancing raw intensity with moments of quiet reflection.

The highlights kept coming—Touché, Don’t Comfort Me, and Nothing Else Matters stirred the audience, while Godsmack hits like Keep Away, Serenity, Under Your Scars, and Bulletproof reminded everyone of his arena-filling power. He closed the night with a string of unforgettable covers: Alice in Chains’ Man in the Box, The Beatles’ Come Together (slipping into Stairway to Heaven), and The Doobie Brothers’ Long Train Runnin’. Each song landed with the kind of raw authenticity only Sully can deliver.

For Erna, this wasn’t just another stop on a tour—it was a homecoming. Born and raised in Massachusetts, his ties to New England run deep, and that connection was felt throughout the night. Mohegan Sun has been a recurring stage for him, from his 2016 arena show featuring family collaborations and powerful medleys, to this intimate outdoor performance where every lyric seemed to resonate a little deeper.

This concert was also part of something bigger: the “Smack This! Scramble” golf tournament, held the following day at Mohegan Sun Golf Club. Hosted by Erna, the event raised funds for his Scars Foundation, which supports mental health awareness. The weekend underscored not only his talent as a musician but also his heart as a humanitarian.

While no further solo dates are currently listed, fans across New England and beyond know to keep their eyes on Sully’s official pages and Mohegan Sun’s lineup. Whether fronting Godsmack or delivering stripped-down, soul-baring solo sets, Erna continues to prove that his music—and his voice—stand in a league of their own.
