On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the world-famous Mohegan Sun Arena lit up with a double dose of blues magic when Bonnie Raitt and Jimmie Vaughan stopped in for an intimate night in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Opening the night, Jimmie Vaughan and his Tilt-a-Whirl Band delivered a fiery set of Texas blues. Vaughan’s behind-the-back guitar work and sharp grooves reminded the crowd why he’s one of the genre’s most authentic stylists, blending finesse and grit in equal measure. His set primed the room perfectly—leaving the stage warm and ready for Bonnie Raitt.

When Raitt walked out, the arena erupted. At 75, she is still amazing, beautiful, and downright talented, transforming a massive space into something intimate from the very first note. She kicked off with “Split Decision” and “Time of Our Lives,” then poured swagger into John Hiatt’s “Thing Called Love.” The crowd swayed, clapped, and cheered—caught up in her every phrase.

Her voice carried deep emotion on “Your Good Thing (Is About to End)” and “Help Me, Lord,” before she stunned with Skip James’s “Devil Got My Woman.” Then came the highlight: “Just Like That.” This was a song I wasn’t expecting, and it tapped every emotion I had—aching, raw, and beautiful, delivered with a quiet intensity that left the room and myself breathless.

Bonnie lifted spirits back up with “Something to Talk About,” offered tenderness on “Love Letter,” and reached timeless resonance with “Nick of Time.” But it was after she spoke the words “John Prine, I Love You” that she broke into her rendition of John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” that froze the moment—you could have heard a thousand pins drop between every note. Closing the main set with Annie Lennox’s “Little Bird,” Raitt showed her versatility, fearless as ever.

The encore sealed it. “I Can’t Make You Love Me” was devastatingly beautiful, still unmatched decades later. Then Vaughan rejoined her, trading licks on “The Pleasure’s All Mine” and “Boom-Bapa-Boom,” sending the crowd out buzzing on a wave of blues joy.
