The Green River Festival has announced the full daily lineup for the 2024 iteration of the festival which returns to the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, MA on June 21, 22, and 23 for its 38th year. This is the first year that promoter DSP Shows will run the festival and we here at LMNR are confident this storied event will be in the most excellent of hands since Signature Sounds has passed them the torch.

Previously-announced headliners CAKE (performing at Green River Fest for the first time since 2010!), Fleet Foxes, and Gregory Alan Isakov will be joined by a diverse lineup of international touring artists, searing indie-rock bands, rising Americana stars, and “local heroes” from the Western Mass music scene like Naia Kete, Kalliope Jones, and Hannah Mohan. Some highlights include the high energy soul-pop band Lawrence, Florida indie-rockers flipturn; singer/songwriter Joy Oladakun, a black, queer person and first-generation child of Nigerian immigrants; Appalachian folk and country artist Josiah and the Bonnevilles; Grammy-nominated folk supergroup Bonny Light Horseman; Afro-Cuban rockstar Cimafunk; Ukrainian “ethno-chaos” quartet Dakhabrakha; indie-pop sister trio Joseph; upstate New York’s melodic rock band The Nude Party; Mexican “Cumbia Punk” from Son Rompe Pera; powerful female trio Trousdale; folk singer Willi Carlisle, whose new album Critterland will be released on Signature Sounds Recordings this Friday; and many more across four stages over the three days of the festival!

Named one of “fifty essential summer music festivals” by The New York Times, the Green River Festival is Western Massachusetts’ signature summer event. The festival is a spectacular celebration of music and community: a world-class lineup of over 40 acts on four stages, the best in local food, beer and wine, handmade juried crafts at The Makers Market, a wide array of kid’s activities, and camping. NPR recently wrote, “The Green River Festival lineup gets more legendary by the year” and this music magazine can absolutely verify that statement.

For the fourth year in a row, the Franklin County Fairgrounds will host the Green River Fest. Established in 1865, The Franklin County Fairgrounds are among the oldest and best preserved fairgrounds in the country and were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. The GRF team reports that they are delighted to present the festival on these grounds where the Western Mass community has gathered to celebrate for over 150 years.

Not only will GRF provide a fabulous array of internationally-renowned acts, it also offers a mouthwatering selection of food options. The Franklin County Fairgrounds provides drinking water from spigots around the property so bring an empty water bottle and a couple washcloths and bandannas to stay cool and beat the impending heat wave! We are also pleased to share that the festival offers completely compostable food serving dishes and utensils and a dedicated group of workers who make sure everything that can be recycled and composted. . . gets recycled and composted! We love a team who keep the GREEN in Green River Fest.

Pro tip: save the schedule images in your phone and add it to your “favorites” album so you can access it even if you lose service at the festival! As parking is limited, folks are encouraged to park in downtown Greenfield and catch the shuttle on Main St in front of Hawks and Reed Performing Arts Center. There is plenty of lot parking behind the former Wilson’s building (by the new skate park) on Chapman St and in the parking garage on Olive St. Locals can also take advantage of the bicycle valet service at the fairgrounds!

The Makers Market includes many festival favorites as returning vendors, as well as vendors new to the fest. Get in line for your flower crowns at Daisy Stone Studio and then peruse through the vendor row for gemstone jewelry, authentic Mexican leather goods, creative beadwork, upcycled clothing, beautiful paintings, wearable metalwork, and more!
