The History of the Band, and Who are the Members of My Chemical Romance Now?
The group has a long history. The reason for the creation of the group was the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11, 2001. Frontman Gerard Way decided to perpetuate the memory of the victims and other members, such as drummer Matt Pelissier and guitarist Ray Toro joined him as they liked the idea. Later, they had new members Mikey Way and vocalist and guitarist Frank Ayera. He dropped out of college after hearing their first album, The Attic Demos, which they recorded in the attic. Frank Ayer joined the group during the studio recording.
My Chemical Romance released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. The musicians recorded the album in the studio in 12 days, three months after the creation of the band. The album included songs of the following genres: punk-rock, emo, gothic-rock, post-hardcore, and pop-punk.
The second album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was released in 2004 and immediately became popular. The songs “Helena,” “I’m Not Okay,” and “The Ghost of You” became especially famous. The album went triple platinum in the US. The band’s next album, released in 2006, also became popular.
My Chemical Romance began performing under the usual name and the pseudonym The Black Parade. They took the stage as a marching band led by Gerard Way. The band performed 138 times around the world for the entire time of their existence.
Drummer Bob Briar left the band in 2012. Keyboardist James Dewees joined the band the same year. Members of My Chemical Romance have announced the recording of a new album, MCR5. However, fans never got to see the new album because the band broke up in 2013.
My Chemical Romance announced their reunion on October 31, 2019, and announced a concert in Los Angeles called “Return.” However, the concert did not take place due to the situation with the coronavirus. Now, fans can finally attend a show of their favourite band. Today, the band members are Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, and Frank Lero.
