No Man’s Land is the eighth studio album by Frank Turner, and it was released on August 16th 2019 by Xtra Mile Recordings. It is a concept album with songs about women from history, often with connections to music.
Turner’s first set mostly focused on the material from No Man’s Land and showcased Turner performing solo, without his band. It was definitely more mellow than many fans are used to from Turner, as is appropriate for this more contemplative album.
Turner returned for a second set with his band, the Sleeping Souls for a more rocking set to close out the night. This second set also had a more acoustic lineup and concept even though it covered his earlier material which is typically played in an electric lineup. The band was seated and the instrumentation was less ‘loud’ and more song focused. As is the custom at Frank Turner shows the audience sang along with gusto.
Between the two sets Turner performed an unbelievable twenty eight songs, showcasing that he may have stamina for performance on a level not seen since the early days of Bruce Springsteen.
