The Upper West Side of Manhattan was all thing glam last week. Glam Skanks, the brilliant all-female band from Los Angeles, played at the World Famous Beacon Theatre, opening for Adam Ant. The Glams were on fire with new lead vocalist Vanessa who ripped through new and old songs in their tight thirty minute set. They played their hearts out winning over the Adam Ant fans and receiving a standing ovation at the completion of the set. They tore through their set like sassy, shimmering superstars.

It was clear to the audience that Glam Skanks deliver more than great songs and masterful musicianship. Vanessa was all over the stage singing her heart out and simultaneously winning over hearts, like a possessed rock goddess. Vanessa was flanked by guitarist Veronica Volume, who beat her custom, glitter Baratto guitar with her fist, and bassist Millie, who ripped through the scene with her glitter Duesenberg bass as if it were a four-stringed chainsaw. Behind it all, drummer Jessica beat her custom-painted drums with frenetic, rock-solid skill Together, they made it look easy.

They are as professional as any seasoned rock outfit and are having a great time cock-rocking better than most guys. The result is an audience consumed by their energy, moved by their passion, and making their way to meet the band after the show. Glam Skanks take no prisoners. They kill it.
