The country/bluegrass quartet has just successfully funded their third album Kickstarter, called Passing in the Night. They will head to the Midwest in the middle of September for a weeklong tour.

An angelic voice soars over a blanket of acoustic sound, living somewhere in between folk, country, bluegrass, and pop. The voice, belonging to band leader and songwriter Erinn Peet-Lukes, sings lyrics that speak honestly about matters of the heart. The songs, along with the highest level of musicianship from the rest of the band, have captured audiences young and old, internationally and across the USA. Thunder and Rain’s lush sound is brought to you by Ian Haegele on bass, Dylan McCarthy on mandolin, Allen Cooke on reso-guitar, and Peet-Lukes on guitar and vocals.

The band achieved viral fame two years ago when its cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” racked up millions of views on YouTube. Since then, Thunder and Rain has become an internationally-touring phenom and darlings of their native Colorado music scene.

Musing on the growth of the band, the members had this to say:

Since the birth of Thunder and Rain in 2013, the band has grown and developed in ways we never could have imagined. We’ve seen the band go from playing local bars and farmer’s markets, to playing major festivals and touring internationally. We were finalists in the 2014 Rockygrass band competition and we were named Westword’s Best Bluegrass Band of 2016. We’ve had the opportunity to meet and share the stage with our heroes and make two full-length studio albums of our original music. All of these incredible experiences would never have been possible without YOU.

Over the past 6 years, we’ve experienced our fair share of hardships and shake-ups as well. We’ve gone through various member changes, experimented with our sound, and at times felt uncertain about what the future would hold for Thunder and Rain.

But something has happened in the last year. Things have clicked into place and we’ve become the band we always envisioned. We dug deep to really hone in on what the music of Thunder and Rain is truly all about and we’re ready to share it with you. We are thrilled to bring you our 3rd studio album, Passing in the Night, 12 original songs about transformation, heart-break and hope.

We’d also like to give a HUGE shout out to two fabulous musicians that played on this album- Natalie Padilla on Fiddle, and Chris Herbst on Dobro. Thank you for helping us arrange these songs, and this album would be nothing without the two of you!

On top of all that, the band just released its first single from the new album, called “House of Light.” Watch it below:

The band’s Kickstarter still has 1 day left- from stickers to a private house show, the tiers of donation prizes offer something for everyone! Find it all at this link.
