Rubblebucket is extending an invitation for its Dream Picnic to Western Mass this year. The first Picnic, a festival curated by the members of the horn-driven dance band, was set in Brooklyn last year. This year, Gateway City Arts is closing down Race Street in Holyoke to welcome Rubblebucket, plus Diet Cig, Caroline Rose, Kimaya Diggs, Mal Devisa, Old Flame, Fire Letters, Mad Habits, the Greys, Billy Wylder, The Mtali Shaka Banda Oneness Project, plus Rubblebucket’s side projects Toth and Kalbells. Two alternating stages inside and outdoors keep music going all day. Tickets are $29.50 and can be purchased at this link HERE.

Members of the Flaming Lips, Brothers Griin, will host an afterparty in GCA in the HUB stage area for $5 extra. Rubblebucket has performed around New Year’s Eve at Gateway City Arts for the past three years. Their shows almost always sell out at GCA and are guaranteed to get audiences dancing. (Read a review from last year’s New Year’s Eve Eve show HERE.)

Of this year’s Dream Picnic, Kal and Alex of Rubblebucket have stated, “We are so excited to bring Dream Picnic to Western MA, truly one of Rubblebucket’s 2nd homes, where we have grown so much with our fans and friends in the area. After the initial year’s success in Brooklyn, it’s amazing to move the event into a bigger location with both outdoor and indoor stages, featuring an all-day curated event and experience!”

Dream Picnic lineup

Gateway City Arts and Signature Sounds Presents are proud to team up to bring this exciting day or music, art, and more to Gateway City Arts. For the day, Race Street outside of Gateway City Arts will be closed off for a unique music and arts experience along the canal. While the musical lineup is a draw in and of itself, there will also be artist vendors, food, holistic services, a thrift shop, and more. The thrift shop’s profits will go to to Enlace de Familias, a local organization. Enlace provides parenting programming and resources to help strengthen the community and empower families to build their lives in confidence and with hope. Mark September 8th on your calendars because Race Street in Holyoke is the place to have a Dream Picnic for the ages.
