Mia Dyson opened for Jen Cloher for the start of her U.S. Tour at The Echo in Los Angeles. The set featured her wonderful songwriting and guitar playing. Her engaging lyrics had the audience captivated and her rock/roots style of music, had the fans swaying along. And you can “feel” her father’s inspiration in her whole package, heck, he even makes all the guitars she plays! Pretty great, in my opinion.

Mia is also promoting her upcoming release on Muscle Shoals label Single Lock Records, If I Said Only So Far I Take It Back (out March 9), is the latest addition to an acclaimed catalog that includes 2014’s Idyllwild (praised by outlets like Rolling Stone Australia) and 2012’s The Moment (an ARIA Music Awards nominee for Best Blues & Roots Album). Take a listen to If I Said Only So Far I Take It Back.

Produced by Alabama Shakes keyboardist Ben Tanner and Dyson’s longtime drummer Erin “Syd” Sidney, If I Said Only So Far I Take It Back adds a stylistic unpredictability to her soulful, introspective strain of rock music. Along with proving her extraordinary magnetism as a guitarist, the album finds Dyson shaping each emotionally intricate track with a more intense vulnerability than she’s ever revealed before. The album also features such musicians as David Hood, one of the original Muscle Shoals SWAMPERS (who played bass on classic songs like The Staple Singers’ “I’ll Take You There”), and John Paul White (formerly of The Civil Wars).
