From the YouTube channel of Franz Ferdinand: https://youtu.be/2iUfn5vJI7Q Franz Ferdinand formed in Glasgow, Scotland as a three-piece band in 2002.  Their first EP Darts of Pleasure launched in 2003, and by 2004, “Take Me Out” was a Grammy-nominated hit for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal after their self-titled debut album was released in February of that same year.  Since then they’ve released 4 studio albums in total and won several music awards over the years, to become one of the most popular post-punk revival bands in recent memory. Now they are out on tour for the first time in three years without founding member Nick McCarthy on rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals.  It’s confirmed that he wouldn’t be taking part in either the recording or touring of their next album to focus on family and other musical projects.  McCarthy might return to the band in the future, but in the meantime the other members of Franz Ferdinand, original frontman Alex Kapranos on lead vocals and guitar, Bob Hardy on bass guitar, and Paul Thomson on drums, percussion and backing vocals, will be joined by Dino Bardot on guitar and Julian Corrie on guitar, keyboards and synthesiser.  Bardot was a member of the indie-rock trio 1990s,  while Corrie has produced electronic music under the name Miaoux Miaoux in recent years.  The announcement for the new lineup was made two days before Franz Ferdinand began the North American leg of the tour. They’ll be in North America for the part of the month of June before returning to Europe to play in several more festival throughout the summer, including the Belladrum Tartan Heart festival in their native Scotland.
