Coup de Grace

Combining the prodigious talents of Nick Reese, Doug Gallo, and David “Tig” Tigelman, the indie psych-rock trio out of Akron, Ohio Coup De Grace brings a final blow to your mind. Their music fuses the energy of powerful lyrics with upbeat vibes, killing the pain of the daily grind and leaving listeners in good spirits. In the first 6 months of its inception, Coup has graced the stage at Nelson Ledges, The Agora in Cleveland for Winter Warm Up, Skully’s in Columbus for Art Slam and the historic Annabell’s in Akron.

Coup De Grace is proud to announce their first album Walk In Light will be released March 3rd, 2017. For the occasion, they’ll host a record release show, to be joined at Musica in Akron by local friends Jeff Klemm & The Letters and The Brothers Band. All three Akron bands have albums recorded at Central 8 Studios and March 3rd will be a celebration of what the Akron music scene has to offer. Central 8 Studios will also be celebrating their 5th anniversary that evening. Accompanying Coup De Grace will be a psychedelic light show by Skuda Productions. Also, live painting and visual arts by Bex Moss and the Anadono Art Crew.

Recorded and mastered at Central 8 Studios, Walk In Light is an ambitious first step for Coup De Grace. Leaving nothing on the table, the three piece strives to take the listener on a musical journey with hints of Radiohead, Tame Impala, as well as The Beatles. Blending strong songwriting with lush layers and an experimental flair, Walk In Light was engineered and mastered by Nathan Doutt, co-owner of Central 8 Studios.

Lead guitarist and vocalist Nick Reese has a lush history of playing in several Ohio bands, often filling in multiple roles where needed. He and, Coup De Grace drummer, Tig have been playing music together for over 10 years. Their story started in Akron, where they helped form the band The George Harrison Ford Explorers. Nick later joined up with and went on tour with Simeon Soul Charger, filling in on everything from keys to guitar. All the while, Tig continued to work on side projects with Nick. Simeon eventually moved to Germany to continue their musical growth. Nick Reese then joined the high energy progressive jam rock group Aliver Hall, touring out to Colorado multiple times and playing countless festivals.

In December of 2015, Nick chose to focus his energy on songwriting and composition, so he and Tig rejoined to form the group Coup De Grace. They also joined forces with bassist Doug Gallo. Doug has shared his talents in multiple bands, including Treespeak, Hayden Calling and The Real True Stories.

Coup De Grace’s first single “Friendly Tiger” is out now. Catch their album release show on March 3rd at Musica in Akron!
