The 4th annual Crave Lexington Food + Music Festival, presented by Windstream and produced by Smiley Pete Publishing, announces programming details for this year’s culinary and culture celebration on August 13-14, 2016 at Masterson Station Fairgrounds.

As usual, food will take center stage at the festival, with more than 50 local and regional food vendors each selling bites at $1, $3 and $5 price points. Other attractions include two days of live music; craft brews, wine and cocktails (with special craft beer tap times to be announced); a classic car show; and family-friendly fun that includes art activities, inflatable bounce houses, games for kids and adults alike, a performance by Lexington’s zaniest community marching band, March Madness Marching Band, and more. With the quick growth of the festival and WildcatOHalloran-Drinkin increased attendance expected this year, festival organizers have made some changes, including the addition of air-conditioned “cool down” seating tents (provided by Windstream and powered by GreenBox Air); printed programs and maps; and the addition of an “adult fun area” with corn hole and other outdoor games.

“After hearing feedback from attendees last year about lines, traffic and ease of finding things in the festival, we made some notable changes,” said festival director Robbie Morgan. “We are shifting from a parking fee to free parking with a small admission price – $6 weekend pass per adult, with free admission for children 10 and under. We’ve also added printed maps and programs, which should make things easier and more fun for everyone.”

In addition to the dozens of food vendors featured at the festival, Crave will host a bevy of “food performances” throughout the weekend. Part food demo/part food vendor, the performances give festival goers a chance to discover new food, new ideas and get up close and personal with a variety of local chefs. The 2016 food performance schedule will feature Souq Moroccan, Tuk Tuk Sri Lankan Bites,  Jonathan Lundy’s Events, Hardwood Pizza Company and Chef John Foster’s The Sage Rabbit.

Some attendees commented on last years festival saying there was a “great variety of local food vendors and WildcatOHalloran-Drinkin musicians! [with] something for everyone,” so hopes are sky high this year on the receiving end of the new and improved Crave festival.

Music from many genres will be performed on the WRFL Music Stage throughout the weekend, with a line-up that includes acclaimed New Orleans R&B, jazz and funk collective – The Dirty Dozen Brass Band; Lexington theatrical glam outfit Chico Fellini, in their first original performance in more than five years; Knoxville-based, Talking Heads Tribute act, Same As it Ever Was; Cincinnati-based Americana trio Young Heirlooms; Cincinnati Funkmaster Freekbass; Austin-based punk- and bluegrass-inspired quartet, Whiskey Shivers; popular local bluegrass outfit, The Wooks; local James Brown Tribute band, The Payback; blues powerhouse trio, DeBraun Thomas Trio; up-and-coming local indie rockers Ezra; and instrumental Lexington hip hop act, LoFidel, performing w/ special guests Fredd C and Allen Poe.
