Camp Creek returns to Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY on July 8-10. Max Creek’s annual camping and music gathering will feature performances by Max Creek, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, New Paltz NY’s Gratefully Yours, Hayley Jane and the Primates, Canada’s After Funk, Creamery Station, Riders on the Storm, the Marks Brothers, Hot Creekin Acoustic, Legion of Jerry, Depth Quartet, and more bands over the course of a weekend.

“In a summer which offers numerous large, expensive festivals and big concerts at corporate arenas, people seem to like our differences: we’re a more intimate event, with no ‘VIP’ distinctions and easy access from campgrounds to stages,” explains producer Derek Kipp. “The music sets are longer and don’t overlap, and by the end of the weekend in this relaxed environment, everyone seems to know everyone else. And early ticket buyers can get a whole weekend of this kind of fun for under $100.”

Camp Creek is one of the region’s longest-running camping festivals, and Max Creek, formed in 1971, is one of the region’s most enduring touring bands. First organized in 1983 as Max Creek’s annual get-together for fans and friends, Camp Creek has resided at Indian Lookout Country Club since 1994. The weekend features long sets by Max Creek on Saturday and alternating acts on two nearby stages throughout the weekend.

Gates open Friday July 8 at 9am, and music starts Friday afternoon and goes through Sunday evening. Campgrounds clear at sundown on Sunday. A Weekend Camping Pass covers the entire weekend, and the spacious campgrounds offer lots of space for campers to set up for the weekend. RVs are welcome ($40 at the gate, no hookups), and campers with children can ask to join the Family Camping area near the hilltop stage.

On a personal note from the editor of this site.  This is one of my favorite festivals, and one of my favorite festival sites.  Some twelve years ago we were at Camp Creek when it was near its largest attendance, and we were sitting with our twin babies in the tent sleeping, listening to the band’s epic Saturday night set floating to us on the wind.  We had a long chat as we are apt to do in times like this about the state of our lives, our family, and how much we loved our lives.  We had a little family planning meeting, and 9 months later our daughter was born.  She was lucky as she narrowly missed being named Max Creek had she been a boy.  We love this festival and this place.

All Schenectady County residents are eligible for discounted “local rate” tickets available only at the Mariaville Lakeside Store.
