UK SINGER-SONGWRITER BEANS ON TOAST TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM,
THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, DIGITALLY VIA
XTRA MILE RECORDINGS ON TUESDAY, MARCH 10
NORTH AMERICAN SPRING HEADLINING DATES & SKIFFLE TOUR ANNOUNCED

Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, Against Me!, Mineral) is proud to announce the release of drunk folk singer, barefoot troubadour and cult legend Beans on Toast’s new album titled The Grand Scheme of Things (pre-order via iTunes). Out digitally on Tuesday, March 10, The Grand Scheme of Things marks the sixth full-length from Beans on Toast (solo vehicle for singer-songwriter Jay McAllister) and is an album that turns to more wholesome topics of home life with his longtime muse Lizzy Bee, an upcoming honeymoon, and a whole lot of loving; a marked change in the man who once was a poster boy for recreational drugs. What hasn’t changed, though, is Beans on Toast’s unrivaled ability to tell a tale, his sharp social commentary and his ability to tackle difficult subjects from an everyday point of view. Here, his thoughts from the last year are honestly regaled through eleven life-affirming and frequently humorous tracks.

Shannon Wright announces US tour, dates with Young Widows.

With his biggest year to date behind him that included world touring, opening arenas for Frank Turner, playing a jam-packed summer of festivals, and performing his largest London headlining show to date at the Electric Ballroom on Thursday, December 11, Beans on Toast is poised to keep the momentum going with the release of his brand new album for Xtra Mile Recordings titled The Grand Scheme of Things. Turning his irreverent mind to the more valuable things in life, the material on the new album largely comes from his personal life, along with his experiences touring the U.S., giving way to “Fuck You Nashville” and the love song, “New Orleans Honeymoon.” Memories of his Camp Bestival main stage performance are captured perfectly with “Stinging Nettles,” a song he wrote for children about the great outdoors. And topics such as gentrification, chicken farming and world peace all get the Beans musical treatment on the new album.

Recorded at London’s Soup Studios, The Grand Scheme of Things was fittingly produced by Sam Beer, an old family friend who taught Beans on Toast his first song on the guitar over eighteen years ago on a camping holiday in Spain, and who was reunited with Beans on the London music circle ten years later. Together, with the help of friends Bobby Banjo and contributors Will Varley and Brooke Sharkey, this is an album that marks a change but not a complete makeover for everyone’s favorite modern one-man band.
