People say you’ve really played Bishop’s Lounge when you can feel the floor rocking underfoot and I can assure you that this past Saturday night; the Van Gordon Martin Band did just that.  The energetic group combines the best of Blues, Reggae, Soul, Funk and R &B, forming a unique and charismatic style.

Since the recent release of their debut album “No Limit to Love”, the VGM Band has been making the rounds spreading their seemingly limitless energy and charm.  The band is comprised of Van Gordon Martin, Sam Gilman, Derrick Ramos, Nathan Sabanayagam, Nate Edgar, Wes Santo, Brian Sayers, Gershon Rosen, Marc Friedman, and Scott Flynn with special guests often gracing the stage.  In the case of this past Saturday, the second set held the surprise of Zach Deputy, who has been a long time friend of Van’s and happened to be playing the Pearl Street Night Club just below.

The audience packed the room, ladies lined the front row, and the band provided an onslaught of funky grooves that kept the room rocking until all hours.  The positive and radiant vibes were visible in the smiles surrounding us, as the room seemed to pulse with the night’s potential.  And it did indeed live up to, and exceed its potential with a fully tight sound and bumping crowd.  Don’t miss the chance to see them for yourself, playing this Saturday Night at Sully's in Hartford, CTwith Wobblesauce.

You can see more of the VGM Band and find shows near you at their website.
