Sometimes you never know what beautiful things will take root right in your backyard. For me, and perhaps you too, it’s the Mayfest music, art and yoga festival, which will make its second appearance in the beautiful Surprise Lake Camp in Cold Spring, NY from May 27-29.

Mayfest is unique festival in that it fully helps you facilitate the way you’d like to spend the weekend, whether you want it to last three days or just one. How it works is you create a schedule by choosing which of +40 classes happening throughout the weekend you’d like to join in on. These classes range from yoga, to exercise driven, to the artistic (I’ve always wanted to learn how to make a kite!), and are taught by renowned professionals. Leading some of the classes are names like Elena Brower, Raghunath, Marti Nikko, and lots more.

For when the sun begins to set, Mayfest has an impressive lineup of musical acts ready to rock its dutiful students.

Serving your jamming needs are some very cool headliners in Turkuaz and Pink Talking Fish (joined by the incredible Elise Testone), a couple of famed solo artists in Trevor Hall and Ryan Montbleau, and extra grooving across the board from the jazzy to experimental, with The Primate Fiasco, The Funky Dawgs Brass Band, and on-the-rise sensations Haley Jane and the Primates.

On it’s Americana musical menu, the lineup has a number of stellar artists from folk duo-couple Mike + Ruthy, Barefoot Truth frontman Will Evans, The Ballroom Thieves, Tall County, and for a full taste of bluegrass, The Breakneck Boys.

Throw in some guided hiking tours, movie screenings, and a wonderful vendor section complete with hand-craft goods and holistic services, and Mayfest is one amazing new event you don’t want to miss!
